Daewoong Pet (CEO Moon Jae-bong), a pet healthcare specialist, has launched a new brand, 'Aniworm', which focuses on high-protein pet nutritional treats made from edible insects. The brand has unveiled three new products under the name 'Aniworm Treats': Aniworm Sweet Potato Treats, Aniworm Pumpkin Treats, and Aniworm Salmon Treats.

Aniworm is a brand that develops nutritional snacks for pets using edible insects, which are gaining attention as alternative meats. Daewoong Pet first launched the Aniworm brand in October 2021, along with three pet treats made from mealworms, exclusively for dogs.

The main ingredient of Aniworm Treats, mealworm protein powder, is not only rich in protein but also highly beneficial for pet health. Mealworm protein powder contains more than 60g of protein per 100g, which is even higher than that found in meat. Specifically, mealworm protein differs from meat protein in its molecular structure, making it a suitable alternative for dogs who have allergic reactions to meat proteins. In addition, mealworm protein is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which are good for cardiovascular health, as well as essential amino acids that support muscle maintenance and have anti-inflammatory effects.

The three varieties of Aniworm Treats offer both nutritional value and flavor. The mealworm protein powder provides a high-quality protein source, and the treats are made using a hydrolysis process that breaks down protein molecules, making it easier for puppies and senior dogs to digest. Furthermore, these treats are free from meat, considering dogs that may be allergic to meat proteins.

Each treat contains only 1.35 kcal, making it easy to give without overfeeding, and the small 0.6 cm size makes them convenient for activities like walks or nosework training. The treats also have a soft and chewy texture and come in three highly palatable flavors: sweet potato, pumpkin, and salmon.

A representative from Daewoong Pet stated, "In an already competitive pet food market, we focused on a differentiated strategy by using insect protein, which has a low risk of causing allergies. In the future, we plan to actively target the pet food market with new products made from various edible insects, beyond just mealworms."
