Daewoong Pet, a leading companion animal healthcare company, announced on the 12th the launch of “Bearzyme Pet,” a digestive enzyme supplement developed specifically for pets. The product is a veterinary adaptation of Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s long-standing best-seller Bearzyme, formulated to support digestive health in dogs and cats.
Bearzyme Pet combines digestive enzymes and dietary fiber to aid not only in digestion but also in promoting regular bowel movements and overall gastrointestinal health.
According to claims data released by Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance’s long-term pet insurance plan “Petpermint,” vomiting was the third most common condition among pets, following gastritis and enteritis. Digestive disorders are therefore highly prevalent in companion animals.
Unlike humans, cats do not secrete amylase (a carbohydrate-digesting enzyme) in their saliva, and dogs produce only minimal amounts. Recognizing this, Daewoong Pet designed Bearzyme Pet with an enzyme activity profile optimized for high bioavailability within the animal’s body, ensuring effective digestion.
Importantly, Daewoong Pet discloses the actual enzyme potency (residual activity) of the finished product, rather than just the input amount used during manufacturing. This ensures quality control and efficacy, as enzymes can lose activity due to environmental factors during production. Detailed assay data can be found on the product’s specifications page.
The supplement uses only ingredients approved for food use, emphasizing safety. It contains three key enzymes:
Amylase (for carbohydrates)
Protease (for proteins)
Lipase (for fats)
In addition, it includes two prebiotics—indigestible maltodextrin and fructooligosaccharide—to improve bowel regularity and support a healthier gut microbiome.
To preserve enzyme stability in the stomach’s acidic environment, a pH control agent has been added, enhancing the enzymatic activity throughout the digestive process.
Bearzyme Pet is available in convenient, individually packed powder stick form. It can be easily mixed with food or treats, and administered once or twice daily regardless of the pet’s weight.
CEO Hyojoon Lee commented:
“As dogs age, their ability to digest protein and fat declines by up to 9%. Just as we carefully check ingredient labels for human supplements, pet owners should also verify the effective component content when choosing products for their animals.
In an era of ‘pet humanization,’ pet health supplements are no longer optional—they are essential. Daewoong Pet will continue to introduce trustworthy, science-based products that enhance the well-being of pets.”
