Daewoong Pet (CEO Lee Hyo-jun and Moon Jae-bong) announced on the 11th that it has signed a business agreement with the nationally accredited testing organization KOTITI Testing & Research Institute (KOTITI) to establish the pet health supplement quality certification system called "Human Standard".

The Human Standard certification system is based on Daewoong Pet's product development principle, "Human Standard," and involves KOTITI inspecting and certifying the product’s raw materials, production facilities, quality control, and nutritional content labeling.

According to Daewoong Pet, with the pet population reaching 15 million, the related market has been rapidly growing, but the regulatory framework remains insufficient. Pet foods are still regulated under livestock management laws meant for cattle, horses, and pigs, with no specific nutritional guidelines for pet foods.

Even when products with false or exaggerated claims are discovered, there are no clear legal grounds for punishment, which has led to an increasing demand from consumers for products that have been proven to be safe.

Through this partnership, Daewoong Pet plans to enhance its product development principle, Human Standard, and establish a comprehensive quality certification system. KOTITI will develop a quality control system based on the Human Standard and will conduct direct quality inspections to assess whether the products meet these criteria.

Human Standard is Daewoong Pet’s product development principle that ensures pet supplements are manufactured and evaluated based on human-grade standards. This includes:

Using traceable, human-grade raw materials that are safe for human consumption

Production in facilities that have been certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) with HACCP and GMP certifications

Compliance with the Food Sanitation Act instead of livestock feed laws

Ensuring that the nutritional content indicated on labels matches the actual content until the product’s expiration date, rather than just the initial content

In November 2022, Daewoong Pet released Impactamin Pet, developed using the Human Standard principle.

Daewoong Pet CEO Lee Hyo-jun stated, "Through the Human Standard quality certification system, we will not only ensure safety but also secure credibility and influence, leading the way in raising the standard of pet health supplements. We hope that this certification system will expand to cover not only pet health supplements but also food products, providing consumers with healthier product options. We encourage many companies and institutions to actively participate in this initiative."
